Home From Home? Yes but in a Tea Cup – Daily Shatzi: Saturday Theme

Hello Everyone and Happy Saturday! 🙂

Our well-deserved weekend is starting today and I was wondering if you had any places you like to go on this day.

I feel like there should always be a special place, aside from your home, that makes you feel… well, at home. A place where the mood is just right, where the people either get you or don’t bother you at all, and where the food meet your ridiculously high standards.

Of course, since it is Saturday, this place needs to be somewhere you can chill and relax to your heart’s content.

Some people just go to Starbucks. Cushy armchairs, cute coffee tables and jazz music, what is more to like?

As a Parisian, I always loved going to the AntiCafé place. Their concept is just awesome. You arrive into the coffee place, in the mist of a very relaxed and chilling ambiance, and your are basically invited to act as if you were at home.

There is a large collection of kitchen instruments at your disposal and you have the choice to eat and drink anything you want from the large amount of food they offer. You toast your bread yourself and put whatever bio condiment you want on it. Nutella, marmalade, jam… If you want to eat a bowl of cereals, you prepare it yourself, and put as much of it as you want. Same with the Madeleine, the cookies, the brownies and the milk…

As. Much.As.You.Want.

Yep, it’s kind of a buffet thing, as long as you are here, you can eat, eat, eat, as often as you want. You only pay when you leave, and the price does not change to match the numerous meals you have taken during your stay. And it’s cheap, which is you know… always a plus.

The decor in those coffee places, is always welcoming, and comfortable. Practical too if you want to work on your laptop or charge your phone. The WiFi is great too. So, if one day, you decide to visit Paris, you know here to go!

Is there a particular coffee place you like to go on quiet days? I know that if I’m not at home or at the Anticafé, I’m at the library. I cannot help the book nerd in me.

Anyway, I hope you reading this in your personal haven. Enjoy today’s Shatzi!

Song of the day

Blind Faith “Can’t find my way home”

Come down off your throne and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I’ve been waiting so long.
Somebody holds the key.

[Chorus:]
But I’m near the end and I just ain’t got the time
And I’m wasted and I can’t find my way home.

Come down on your own and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I’ve been waiting all these years.
Somebody holds the key.

[Chorus]

But I can’t find my way home.
But I can’t find my way home.
But I can’t find my way home.
But I can’t find my way home.
Still I can’t find my way home,
And I ain’t done nothing wrong,
But I can’t find my way home.

    1. Ah, I know the feeling! Bizarrely, I have a trouble writing when I’m in cafe, I prefer reading! The AntiCafé places are in several places in Paris, not yet all across France, and nowhere else in the world. It’s a great concept they have and if you decide to go there at 9 AM and leave at 7 PM, you only pay 14 euros to stay the entire day. And eat as much as you want, anything you want. It’s pretty cool, when I was a student, I was there very weekend, waaaaay better than the Uni’s library! ^^
Thanks for commenting and liking the article! Cheers!

  1. Sounds like a wonderful outing. A somewhat recent fad in the UK and now here in North America is converting one’s shed into a Pub. I did this, and while mine is nowhere near as elaborate as some, it serves nicely as a quite place for a pint without having to go anywhere. Great post!
