Everybody lost somebody. That’s just the way life and love are. It’s part of the package. You live, you love and eventually Death takes and takes and takes but give no one back.

There are different types of griefs, though, and today’s Shatzi is about acknowledging the one that comes when the giants dies.

Those legends that shaped your childhood or adulthood, those public figures who spent most of their lives creating arts, music and films… all those things that distracted you from your pain, delighted you to the point of tears and helped you cope with the most difficult times in your existence.

Alan Rickman, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin… I could give you a list of artists whose works touched my life in a way that truly made me who I am today. I could go on and on about how tragic it is that the newest generation won’t know, through their arts, the power of their soul and magic of their love. I could make their deaths all about my grief.

But I won’t. I want to celebrate them because the real tragedy of art and those who make art is that, if no one remember it, if no one listen to a song, if no one is looking at the paintings or the movies… then it doesn’t exist.

This is why posts like Daily Shatzies are so important to me. I want to share with everyone what I love, who I love and what inspires me.

I cannot share all the music or all the movies in the world, but hopefully, I will help you discover something that will distracted you from your pain, delighted you to the point of tears and helped you cope with the most difficult times in your existence.

Like Alan Rickman, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and so many more did for me.

May they rest in power.
